Baggu Reusable Bags

January 6, 2011
So very many of us have committed to doing our part for conservation and have made the switch to reusable grocery bags. That's great but, what about when you are shopping somewhere other than the grocery store? The reusable grocery bags that I use are the ones offered at my grocery store. Good for the environment but, slightly bulky and definitely not cute.

Baggu Reusable Bags are designed to be bright, bold, stylish, high quality and amazing for the environment. Did you know that using one Baggu Reusable Bag for one year replaces 300-700 disposable bags?!

Baggu bags come in a multitude of colors and so many different sizes and styles. The original Baggu bag holds the contents of 2-3 plastic grocery bags. It's 15” Wide / 25” high / 6” deep and folds into a flat 5” by 5” pouch. It holds an amazing 50 lbs and is made of 100% Ripstop nylon. It's also machine washable.

Get the BagguX3 or the BagguX5 and get the awesome Baggu bags with their own little travel pouch. Makes it so easy to carry them around in your regular purse or bag!

I love the Baggu also carries the Baby Baggu for smaller items or shopping trips and the Big Baggu for larger items, traveling or laundry. Having the three sizes of the standard Baggu is fantastic.

There are several other Baggu bag products as well, from small zippered cosmetic bags to backpacks. Reusable bags are a wonderful investment in our future and such an easy way for each and every person to make a difference. If you are committed to switching to reusable shopping bags, check out Baggu for wonderful bags that give you style while retaining functionality and making you feel better about the choices you make for our Earth.

The Boy Who Cried Wolf DVD

January 3, 2011
My son is 6 and, in the last year or so, he has really started the normal little fibs that most kids tell. We've told him the story of The Boy Who Cried Wolf here and there and he is pretty familiar with it. Recently, he added a new Scholastic DVD to his collection that took that story he knows so well and brought it to life for him. The Boy Who Cried Wolf and more Children's Fables from Scholastic Storybook Treasures quickly became one of his favorite dvd's.

The title tale in this Scholastic DVD is adapted from the book by B.G. Hennessy and brings the fun illustrations and beloved children's tale to life. The dvd also features other stories like Charlie Needs a Cloak, Rikki-Tikki-Tavi (one of my personal favorites) and another favorite from my childhood, Stone Soup, along with Seven Blind Mice round out this awesome dvd.

I've said many times before but, the Scholastic Storybook Treasury DVDs are my absolute favorites. They are read-along stories with the original wonderful illustrations and bring classic and beloved stories to life for kids. I love that, in today's world of crazy animation and amazing special effects, my kids so incredibly enjoy the simple illustrated animation of Scholastic DVDs. I love that they are getting the benefit of being read this special stories while getting the enjoyment of watching totally age-appropriate movies. Scholastic Storybook DVDs are my number one go-to for children's gifts and every time I've given them they are met with huge praise from the parents. I love that they span such large age groups for children. There are DVDs with ASL for very young babies and toddlers and DVDs with stories that my school aged child loves. There are classic fables, well-known stories, books from my childhood and new stories that my kids and I have discovered together and have become family favorites.

I absolutely recommend any and all of the DVDs from Scholastic and definitely suggest adding The Boy Who Cried Wolf...And More Children's Fables to your DVD collection.

DidiPop Goes to Hawaii

January 3, 2011
The holidays are over but, the cold weather persists in so many parts of the country. Looking for a little warmth? A little fun in the sun during your cold last stretch of winter? Ready for some fun kids' music after a month of holiday tunes? Look no further than DidiPop Goes to Hawaii.

Deborah Poppink - aka DidiPop - is an award winning songwriter, performer and music teacher who has brought a whole new album with her distinctive sound to families everywhere. DidiPop Goes to Hawaii is filled with tropical music that both teaches kids about the Hawaiian culture and gets them singing, laughing and dancing. Songs like "The Hawaiian Alphabet Song" teaches kids how to pronounce Hawaiian words while "Kapalua Bay" captures the essence of Hawaii's beaches.

Deborah Poppink is known for much more than children's music. With compositions for shows like The X-Files, teaching music in exotic locales and a John Lennon Songwriting Contest Award under her belt, Deborah has definitely put her stamp on the music industry in more ways than one. She takes her knowledge of songwriting and performing and combines it with what kids love to hear in this newest album.

Along with DidiPop Goes to Hawaii, there are other albums in the DidiPop collection that are sure to be faves with your kids. The DidiPop album and the Let's Make Santa Happy album are perfect additions to the DidiPop collection and make sure that you and the kids can enjoy DidiPop all year. My kids adore the DidiPop Goes to Hawaii album. They love the beats and picked up on the fun song lyrics quickly. Though it's not too cold here in the south, it's nice to bring a little of the Hawaiian sun into our lives. I definitely recommend this album to all who have kids and all child caregivers.

Buddy Fruits

December 30, 2010
Do you take snacks for your kids when you are on the go? I know, for us, many car rides have been quieter thanks to the snacks I've managed to remember. Not all snacks are great for "on the go", however. Whether it's hopping in the car, headed to the back yard to play or something simple for a lunchbox, some snacks are just not as convenient as others. One snack that my kids love but, only get when seated at the dining room table, is applesauce. The kids and my husband all love applesauce and I love that they enjoy a snack that is so good for them. The thing is, applesauce doesn't travel very well.

I was over the moon when I discovered Buddy Fruits. I've seen them in the grocery store for quite some time but, never realized that they were so unique, so tasty, so fun and something that my family would love so much. Buddy Fruits are travel pouches filled with 100% real fruit. The consistency is somewhat like applesauce or a fruit smoothie and the flavors are fun and yummy. I adore that these little pouches are resealable with an actual twist-on lid like a drink and I really like that they are perfect for little hands.

Buddy Fruits are available in five different flavors and each one is real fruit flavor because it's 100% real fruit. Natural and so good for you, Buddy Fruits are the perfect choice for babies, kids and even adults. If you've been searching for the perfect, healthy snack to take on the go, put in your child's lunchbox or just as a wonderful afternoon snack, Buddy Fruits are absolutely the way to go. I highly recommend them. My kids, ages 6 and 3, along with my one year old nephew and my husband, all totally love Buddy Fruits.

You can get Buddy Fruits in grocery locations nationwide like, Walgreens, HEB, Piggly Wiggly, Winn Dixie, Kings and many others or online at places like Amazon.com.

Fiber One and $25 Safeway Card

December 28, 2010
I buy a lot of snacks at the grocery store. Snacks and cereal. Lots of both. Earlier this year I started making a concerted effort to switch to healthier versions of all the foods I buy for my family. Recently, we tried some new granola bars (one of our favorite snacks) and some new cereal that we all loved.

I'm sure you've all seen the commercials that let you know that Fiber One cereals and bars give you at least 35% of your daily value of fiber. What I didn't know was that there is so much more than fiber in the Fiber One products. There's fiber but, there's also things like antioxidant  vitamins A and E and, above all, fabulous flavor. Fiber definitely doesn't have to be boring or some powder you mix in your water. Fiber can be fun and is definitely vital.

Fiber One offers their Raisin Bran Clusters that contain crispy, lightly sweetened whole grain flakes, plump raisins and crunchy clusters while giving you 11 grams of fiber and vitamins per serving. What I went for, though, was the Fiber One Honey Clusters. This is a yummy cereal full of the lightly sweetened whole grain flakes and scrumptious honey clusters. It's also got 13 grams of fiber in every one-cup serving!

Aside from the cereals (and there are several others), Fiber One offers my daughter's favorite granola bars. They are chewy, full of chocolate chips and topped with a little chocolate drizzle. She thinks it's a dessert treat. I know that it's got 35% of the daily fiber recommendation.

Fiber One also has yogurt, muffin and pancake mix, bread, toaster pastries and cottage cheese. I actually didn't know that they had expanded from the simple cereal to so many yummy products. Of the items we've tried from Fiber One, I do really like the taste and love knowing that there is so much goodness in it. I do wish that there wasn't any corn syrup and if Fiber One found a way to eliminate that, I'd be a loyal and devoted customer. Otherwise, in a grocery store sea of products containing hfcs with nothing substantial in the food, it's good to know that Fiber One foods at least have some really great vitamins and are a yummy way to get your daily fiber.

L'uvalla Skin Care

December 16, 2010
I'm not very good at keeping up with a skincare regimen. Part of the reason is because I've found it really difficult to find one that I love, that I don't mind doing and that I feel really works. Recently I was able to try a new brand of skincare products and am happy to say that I love it so much that I'm not finding it very difficult to keep up with it daily.

L'uvalla is certified organic skin care products from a company that cares about your skin, the Earth, fair trade, and animals. L'uvalla's products use the healing properties of natural and organic elements without toxins and produces their line through fair trade practices while being completely animal cruelty-free and vegan-approved by COSMEBIO, PETA and Leaping Bunny. The products from L'uvalla use organic botanicals that are nutrient dense and free of preservatives. These skin care products are absolutely 100% organic and natural. And, I absolutely 100% love them.

L'uvalla sent me their 3 step Balancing System. For someone with combination skin like mine, this system is absolutely amazing. The Foaming Cleanser was the first step and the first thing to blow me away. This cleanser is made to remove daily toxins and makeup with no irritation. It's got things like Bilberry and Lotus Flower that have powerful antioxidant properties. My first impression was that it was such a thin liquid, I honestly did not think it could possibly clean my face. I was beyond wrong. The smallest amount of this cleanser cleans my face better than anything else I have ever used. Why? Because with a small amount, all makeup is gone (even eyeliner) but, my skin is left feeling refreshed instead of stripped. Best face cleanser I've ever used!

The second step is the Rejuvenating Eucalyptus Toner. This toner is light and clears away the congestion in skin while reducing pore size but, doesn't feel like you're using the alcohol based toners from other skin care lines. This toner contains plant extracts like eucalyptus and sage and is invigorating and smells so good. I always feel refreshed after using the toner.

The third step is my favorite. The Balancing Day/Night Cream is a light moisturizer that uses the antiseptic and astringent properties of thyme, clove flower and cinnamon bark to purify and clear congestion. It also contains the powerful anti-aging properties of Argan Oil, which has twice the vitamin E of olive oil. This helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles while boosting skin's natural collagen production. Immediately after applying this cream, my skin instantly looks smoother and brighter. I absolutely love using this as a pre-base to makeup. It leaves my skin feeling soft and silky but, absolutely not greasy at all. It also, like the other steps, smells amazing.

In all, I am beyond impressed with the Balancing System from L'uvalla. I highly recommend their products and look forward to trying more of what they offer. In addition to this system, they also offer an Age-Defying System, Anti-Wrinkle Creams, Orange Toner and more. All organic, all natural, all amazing.

The new L'uvalla website is also amazing. The sleek look and easy to browse categories makes shopping simple and smooth. It's easy to find out what goes into L'uvalla's products and why they are so amazing. There is so much wonderful information alongside the easy shopping on this new site. I adore it all.
