Kids' Music CDs Review and Giveaways CLOSED

September 8, 2009
THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED

Three winners will be chosen to receive one of these great CDs!

We were recently sent some amazing kids' music. My kids are both just like my husband and me; they love music. I have a hard time finding music that appeals to their need to learn and have something silly at times but, also doesn't completely drive the parents insane!

Peter Himmelman is a rock legend, a Grammy nominated creator of children's music, and an Emmy nominated film and television composer. His newest children's album is called My Trampoline, which includes songs about a trampoline, an African leopard tortoise named King Ferdinand, a picky eater named Peter, and the scarcity of kids named Steve. The songs are all upbeat and, trust me, very fun to dance around to! To see Peter's complete discography and check tour dates and news CLICK HERE. And be sure to check out Peter's label  www.minivanproductions.com and all their other amazing artists!

Putumayo Kids is the children's section of Putumayo World Music. The multilingual music from Putumayo is fun and educational for kids. Kids are sponges. They pick up different languages much faster and much easier than adults. Using fun songs, Putumayo makes it even easier for children to be exposed to other languages and cultures. The Putumayo Kids website even offers downloadable teaching guides. The new, upbeat Picnic Playground contains a smorgasbord of songs from around the world. CLICK HERE to learn more.

Laura Freeman's Somersault Season is my new favorite kids' album. My kids and I totally rocked out to her funny and engaging songs. TRex and I both love "My Brother's a Monster". Laura lives in Austin, Texas and is a writer and performer of music that ranges from kids' music to cabaret. Her songs are super funny, educational and really easy to sing along with. I love the section on Laura's website that shows you song lyrics and gives instructions and suggestions on what activity to do with the song. I really could have used songs like this when I taught in a daycare! Still, my kids and I can totally enjoy them! CLICK HERE to check out Laura's discography and bio.

We're giving away one of each of these awesome CDs!

Tie Buddies Review and Giveaway CLOSED

September 7, 2009
THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED

One reader will win a set of Tie Buddies!

Remember learning to tie your shoes? I distinctly remember that I learned to tie on a dress that my Cabbage Patch doll wore! It's no small feet (haha, get it?) teaching your kids to tie their shoes. Luckily, mom inventor, Wendy Welling has stepped up to the plate and revolutionized how your kids learn to tie their laces!

Introducing, Tie Buddies. These cute little squares create "pull tabs" on your child's shoes that make it fast and easy for them to learn how and keep on tying their own shoes. Currently, you can choose from a boy version and a girl version but, rest assured because more characters are coming.

With TRex having just turned 5 this summer, I was super excited to try out the Tie Buddies. Hubby and I both slid the laces through the Tie Buddies and showed TRex the few simple steps. In under 10 minutes he was successfully doing it on his own and having a really good time. Once he's gotten the hang of it, we'll remove one of the Tie Buddies and let him practice making the loop on his own while mimicking what the Tie Buddy lace is doing. After a bit, remove the other Tie Buddy and he's a pro!

I think the Tie Buddies are a definite Must-Have for any preschooler. I also think they'd be really helpful to have in Kindergarten classrooms. Tie Buddies are so affordable that you'll be able to get a pair for every lace-up shoes your kid owns! I think they would make a great Birthday or Back to School gift!

Tie Buddies would like to give one of my readers a set of Tie Buddies of their own!

Contest is open to US and Canada only and will end on September 13th.

Crazy Dog Tshirts Review and Giveaway CLOSED

September 3, 2009
THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED
One lucky reader will win a tshirt of their choice from Crazy Dog!!

Remember when the only reason someone would be laughing at your clothes is if they were on backwards or inside out?

These days clothes are usually funnier than the person wearing them. Thanks to companies like Crazy Dog we can all look funnier (and that's a good thing!). Even the Crazy Dog slogan cracks me up. "Shirts built by Robot Dogs"

Well, those "robot dogs" do a good job. I spent probably close to an hour browsing the Crazy Dog website. There are so many shirts to choose from for everyone from the kids to the adults. Most of them are pretty darn hilarious. I'm personally in love with all of the 80's memorabilia shirts. I am a child of the 80's and remember all the fashions, fads and tvshows quite fondly. Crazy Dog sent me the Golden Girls tee. Aside from being perfect for me in terms of favorite shows (yes, I absolutely have always loved the Golden Girls!), this shirt is perfect in every way that a tshirt should be. The fit is nice and long, which is something I always look for in a tee. It's also one of the softest tees I've ever owned.

I've got to show you some of my other faves from Crazy Dog!

I could go broke buying the 80's shirts at Crazy Dog. It's like they went into my memory and pulled out all my favorites from childhood! How can anyone who grew up in the 80s live without this Bayside Tigers shirt? From the Smurfs to Batman, Voltron and original Nintendo, you will find the perfect shirt to remember the 80's at Crazy Dog!

Crazy Dog has plenty of tees to commemorate pop culture since the 80's as well. Being the Seinfeld nut that I am, I'd have to say that this tee is my fave.

Don't forget to check out the huge selection of $9 tees! These tees are high quality and that is an awesome deal!

Crazy Dog Tshirts is giving one of my readers a tshirt of their choice. So very many to choose from!

PakNak Review and Giveaway CLOSED

September 3, 2009
THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED
4 Lucky Readers Will Each Win PakNaks!!

What is a PakNak? It's a cute and funny name for some cute and funny decorations! PakNaks are mom-invented, soft and rubbery 3D decorations for kids that stick to just about anything.

PakNaks are removeable and reusable which means you can take them off and decorate something else or replace the PakNaks to fit whatever mood you are in. I thought they were fantastic for backpacks and lunchboxes and other kid school supplies. Then I started looking around on the PakNak site and realized just how many ways you could use them.

How cute on a headband?

And a lamp! I'd never have thought of this.

The list of styles is almost as long as the list of ways to use them. There are tons of different shapes, animals and different odds and ends to choose from. I love how colorful all of them are. To make them even cuter (as if you could!) each PakNak comes with it's own little personality. The cards the PakNaks come on let you know who they are, where they are from and some of their favorites. I think this is ingenious. Kids these days are still very into collecting and trading just like when I was young. I can imagine how easily a group of kids could get hooked on these cute decorations and collecting them all! I also love the game that kids can play on their website. These things are just fun all the way around.

PakNak sent us Mona and Martin. Aren't they cute!? These seem very durable and I'm not worried of them falling off what we stick them on.

You know how much I love companies that make cute things and do GOOD things! PakNak is another one of those places. In 2008 they donated 10% of online sales to a nonprofit in Portland called Schoolhouse Supplies. They are a great organization that distributes free school supplies to students and teachers. I love it. Every child deserves to be well equipped for their education and our teachers need all the help they can get.

PakNak is giving away some of these awesome goodies to several of my readers!!

4 Winners will win 3 PakNaks each!
US and Canada only

Big chance of winning this one! Make sure you do the extra entries!

Oliver's Labels Review and Giveaway CLOSED

September 2, 2009
THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED

School is back in session. With that comes lots of school shopping, extracurricular activities, homework, talent shows and, among other things, lost items. You know that, no matter your child's age or grade, it is an inevitable fact that they will lose some of their belongings while out of your care and watchful eye. Instead of spending time and money to replace all of the items that your child may donate to the Lost and Found box, check out this company!

Oliver's Labels makes personalized labels in a variety of styles and sizes. I love all the different uses for these labels. We were sent a nice combo pack full of a great assortment of labels. Of course, TRex loves them. Not only do they say his name but, they also have dinosaurs all over them! Whether your kids are in grade school, junior high or just starting daycare, these labels can really put a mom's mind at ease when it comes to lost belongings.

I remember when my son went to daycare and it seemed like we lost articles of clothing or bags at least once a week. When it comes to kids' clothes, especially jackets for some reason, there is no space organized enough to keep something from getting lost. Once I realized that his things were going to be misplaced I tried to remember to write his name in his jackets and things. I really wish I'd had the iron-on or Stickeez Oliver's Labels back then. Aside from being really useful, I think they are super affordable as well.

There are some fun and extremely useful styles including, shoe labels and iron-on clothing labels. I like the versatility of the different labels and having the original or mini labels to put on anything you'd like. My favorite feature of Oliver's Labels is the Found It Code. This is the smartest thing I've ever seen when it comes to labeling stuff! When you buy your labels you can choose to have the Found-It tracking system code put on them. You give your email address and the Found-It code is connected to you through your email. The code is printed on your labels and if someone finds it they visit the web url that is also on the label. They put in the Found-It code and Oliver's Labels sends emails between you and the sender to help you recover your property. I love this feature!

Oliver's Labels would like to offer a $20 gift card to one of my readers!

Contest is open worldwide and will end on September 5th.

Can't wait to buy yours? Use the Oliver's Labels discount code "oliversfriends" and get 10% off your purchase!
